Born Lois Adele Miller May 31, 1939 in Union City, Michigan, she would later meet the love of her life, Gary Wadsworth, at the Sherwood Free Show. They married in 1957 at the Sherwood Free Methodist parsonage and raised their three children in Sherwood.
Lois enjoyed celebrating birthdays and holidays with her family. She always went above and beyond to make these celebrations grand and magical for her children and grandchildren. Lois was a great cook and enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends.
Lois was very creative and had a special touch for creating beauty in the world. She mastered and put her whole heart into anything she tried, including decorating, sewing, quilt making, and gardening. Lois was a “world-class” shopper. She was tough and determined. No job was too big to tackle. Lois would find a way. She completed several 5k runs at age of 84.
Lois was a hard worker with a strong work ethic. She was accomplished in any and all things she did. Any job that needed to be done had to be done just right. Lois attended Wright Beauty Academy and owned and operated her salon at her home in Sherwood. She also worked in retail at Hudson’s, Marshall Fields, Meijer, and the Village Market.
In retirement, Lois cared for Gary for many years. After Gary’s death in 2021, Lois devoted her time to serving the communities of Sherwood, Colon, Union City, and Athens. She thoroughly enjoyed her volunteer work at the Union City Senior Center, Greenfield House in Athens, Colon Library, and Sherwood Garden Club. Her mission was to make people smile and help them feel connected.
Lois is survived by her children, Julie (Rob) Tuttle of Fennville, Lori (Mark) Haskins of Chelsea, and Jeff (Mary) Wadsworth of Sherwood; her grandchildren, Andrea (Tom) Lavery, Mike Tuttle, Ben (Jessica) Tuttle, and Lyndsey Walton; her great-grandchildren, Briana Lavery, Kalie Lavery, Arabelle Tuttle, and Seth Tuttle; and her beloved dogs, Zeus and Jasmine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary.
