TECUMSEH, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school gymnastics, Coldwater lost at Tecumseh Wednesday night as their record dropped to 2-3 in the conference. The Cardinals managed a score of 117.2 as some of the team members were sidelined due to illness.
Erica Rodgers was third in the all around with a score of 30.275.
Sarah Hughes had the top scores for Coldwater on the uneven bars with a 6.625 score and in balance beam with a score of 8.05.
Erica Rodgers led Coldwater on the vault with a score of 8.275. Coldwater had its highest score for the night in that event at 31.15.
Coldwater also did well in floor exercise with a score of 31.125. Claire Sheppard led the way for Coldwater with her mark of 8.45.
Coldwater travels to Plymouth on Saturday for the Canton Invitational. Then they have all of next week to prepare for their 8th annual Stick It For a Cure Competition in their home gym at CHS. Bowling—
Coldwater varsity bowling teams split with Battle Creek Pennfield on Wednesday night. The varsity boys team continued their undefeated season with a 30-0 win. They are now 8-0. High scores for Coldwater were Jaden Reichhart with a 202 game and a 377 series. Alec Keplinger had a 198 game and a 371 series.
The varsity girls suffered their 2nd loss of the season as they were beaten by Pennfield 24-6. Their record is now 6-2. High scores for Coldwater were Tiffanie Corwin with a 185 game and a 308 series. Samantha Youse had a 170 game and a 300 series.
The J.V girls’ won 30-0 and remain undefeated. Stella Beerman had a 140 game while Hannah Furney had a 131 game and a 256 series
The J.V. boys’ won 24-6 and remain undefeated. Kaleb Champion had a 246 game and a 423 series. Kaleb Wilber had a 202 game and a 366 series.
Wrestling—
Bronson scored a pair of lopsided wins as they defeated St. Joseph 78-3 and Plainwell 76-3. Getting two wins for the Vikings were Ben Modert (103), Brendan Withington (112), Dillan Werterton (125), Isaac Tappenden (130), Jac Murphy (135), Jacob Butters (140), Ruger Rainey (145), Gavin Alger (160), Cole Houtz (171), David Erwin (189), Chase Gibson (215) and Alex Tyler (285)
Middle School Girls Basketball—-
The Coldwater 8th grade A team lost to Jackson Northwest 51-37. Mia Rzepka led Coldwater with 13 points.
The Coldwater 8th Grade White Lady Cardinal Basketball team lost to Jackson Northwest 41-22. Joselyn Salto and Juana Mancera each had eight points for Coldwater.
Coldwater’s 7th grade A team won at Jackson Northwest 41-6 as they improved to 3-2. Mallory Wilber led Coldwater with 14 points while Jayla Foster had 10 points.
The Coldwater 7th grade B team defeated Jackson Northwest 28-4 as they improved to 4-1. Lillian Gimenez led Coldwater with eight points,The Union City 8th grade girls basketball team defeated Quincy 30-23. Ava Winstone led the 4-0 Chargers with 13 points.
Quincy’s 7th graders defeated Union City 26-18. Emma Dexter led Union City with nine points.
Bronson’s 8th grade girls basketball team topped Battle Creek St. Philip 41 to 15. The Vikings were led on offense by Macy Covey with 12 points.
The Bronson 7th graders pulled out a close one at home against Battle Creek St. Philip, winning 25-24. Caitlyn Hagen led all scorers with 12 points.
