COLDWATER, MI (WTVB)- A Tekonsha woman was arrested in Coldwater in connection with a Child Abuse complaint. According to Coldwater Police, 31 year old Cynthia Foster, of Tekonsha,was arrested on charges of Child Abuse involving her 4-month-old son.
Police were dispatched to Balfour Drive in Coldwater around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, for a reported child abuse complaint. Upon arrival, officers learned that the child’s parents had been arguing and that Foster had been drinking.
Police report the child’s father told responding officers that during the argument, Foster picked up the 4-month-old child and slammed him down on her lap twice.
Officers observed red marks on the boy’s torso consistent with someone grabbing the child under the armpits. Foster was arrested for Child Abuse, along with an outstanding Child Support warrant, and was lodged at the Branch County Jail.
The child was taken to Insight Hospital and Medical Center Coldwater for a medical evaluation. The Branch County Prosecutor’s Office charged Foster with one count of Child Abuse – 3rd Degree.
She was arraigned in Branch County District Court on Friday and had her bond set at $1,ooo. A probable Cause Hearing was scheduled for May 15th and Preliminary Exam on May 21st.
