Gardner “Bud” Allen, 78, of Bronson, Michigan passed away peacefully April 30, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born November 2, 1946, in Coldwater, to Gardner and Evelyn Allen, Bud led a life marked by service, devotion, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
A member of the 1964 graduating class of Franklin High School in Livonia, MI, Bud served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1968, stationed at a Third-Class Boiler Technician aboard the USS Hawkins, homeported in Newport, RI. Following an honorable discharge, he continued as a boiler operator for Coldwater Veneer, staying until he retired.
Bud was preceded in death by his daughter, Erin Allen of Phoenix, AZ.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Louise Allen of Bronson, granddaughters, Skylar Allen of Tucson, AZ, and Kendall Duvall of Wichita, KS, as well as his brothers: Donald Allen (Nora) of Millersburg, Michigan; Virgil Allen (Dyan) of East Lansing, Michigan; Chuck Allen (Debbie) of Midland, Michigan; and John Allen (Lisa) of Springfield, TN and many nieces and nephews.
Bud loved riding his motorcycle, was an avid deer hunter, fisherman, and a passionate Detroit Tigers fan. He will more so be remembered as a loyal friend, a devoted husband, a loving father, and the best big brother one could want. His presence was a gift to all who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
A service will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. A memorial gathering of family and friends will take place prior to the service from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Interment of ashes will be held Monday, May 12, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
