BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The City of Bronson says nearly 82 1/2 tons of recyclable materials were collected in the first year of a curbside recycling program.
Officials said in a Facebook posting of monthly statistics that for the first year of a recycling program, the numbers were excellent for a community of Bronson’s size.
Curbside recycling was discussed for several years in Bronson as a replacement for drop off recycling. Residents were using drop off bins so frequently that they had be constantly dumped.
The biggest collection months in 2016 were March and August as over 10 tons were collected in each of those months when there were only three collection days.
Residents doing spring cleaning may have been the reason April was the next busiest month as crews collected just over 7.6 tons.
