CALHOUN COUNTY,MI (WTVB) – A line of strong storms rolled through Southern Michigan overnight knocking out power to thousands of Consumer Energy Customers.
Consumers says as of this morning 611 customers in Branch County are in the dark, mostly in the Bronson area. St Joseph County has over 4,500 Consumers Energy customers without power.
Counties to the north didn’t fare as well. Kalamazoo County has over 50,000 in the dark, nearly 22,000 in Calhoun County, and almost 5,000 outages are reported in Jackson County.
Just after the line of storms passed through Consumers says they had more than 200,000 customers without power. They say they had more than 500 company workers and contractors mobilized before the storm, and began the process of getting the lights back on just after 1:00 a.m. this morning.
Consumers says they will be working 16 hour shifts to get power restored.
