COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – 59% of Michigan towns grew in population last year, and the City of Coldwater showed one of the biggest increases in the state.
Among 1,535 Michigan communities with available data from the United States Census Bureau, nearly 59% had estimated population increases in 2024, but only six communities had 4% climbs or higher. Coldwater’s increase was 6.7%, with Coldwater Township up 1.3%.
Springdale Township in Manistee County had the state’s largest estimated population increase between 2023 and 2024 at 8.5%.
Fifty-five counties in Michigan had estimated increases in 2024 compared to 27 with decreases.



I’m sure the majority of new people are immigrants from Haiti. I work with the public and they appear to be the newest people moving to the area.
