COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – On a 3-2 vote, the Branch County Board of Commissioners approved a recommendation to have Abraham and Gaffney of East Lansing conduct the county audit for the next three years, even though their $104,200 bid was about $28,000 more than two other firms.
Commissioner Don Vrablic motioned for the approval. He felt Abraham and Gaffney did a good job for the county in the past.
But Terri Norris favored Gabridge and Company of Grand Rapids at a cheaper price.
County Administrator Bud Norman said the recommendation was made by a four person committee.
The vote was along the same lines as last Thursdays work session with Norris and Leonard Kolcz voting no. Vrablic, Randall Hazelbaker and Ted Gordon voted yes.
In other business, the Commissioners approved a request from 911 Director Kurt Spalding to fill a position that became open when a dispatcher resigned last Friday.
