EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan High School Athletic Association announced on Tuesday that the remaining 32 teams in the Girls Volleyball Tournament and individuals from 128 schools who have qualified for the Lower Peninsula Girls Swimming & Diving Finals will restart their postseasons on Monday with championship events for both concluding January 16.
Participants in both sports as well as the remaining teams in the football playoffs must take part in a rapid testing pilot program created by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
Football teams are scheduled to begin full-contact practice as soon as they complete a round of negative testing this week.
The Girls Volleyball Tournament will pick up with Quarterfinals on January 12. Bronson will face top ranked Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central at Whitmore Lake in one of the Division Three quarterfinals. The girls volleyball semifinals and finals will still take place at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek on January 14, 15 and 16.
The Girls Swimming & Diving Tournament will conclude with the Finals on January 15 and 16 at three sites. Coldwater divers Mia Rzepka and Charlotte Calhoun and swimmer Jillian McKinley will be competing in the Division 3 Finals at Lake Orion High School. The Diving Finals will take place on the 15th followed by the Swimming Finals on the 16th.
Spectators will not be allowed at competitions for any of the remaining fall sports tournaments.
