COLDWATER, MI (WTVB)- The investigation into what sparked that devastating fire Tuesday night at A Grand Occasion on Union City Road is continuing this afternoon.
The fire was first noticed around 5:50 Tuesday evening, by the time the first crews from Coldwater arrived the flames and thick smoke were emanating from the structure that sits just feet off of Union City Road. Efforts to fight the fire were hampered by the lack of water in the area, tankers had to haul water from nearly two miles away in the Coldwater city limits.
The estimated damage to the building is $1,000,000.00 and $500,000.00 to contents. The fire was under control after approximately 2 hours and crews remained on scene until 11:30 p.m. There were no reported injuries.
Coldwater received mutual aid assistance from Bronson, Quincy, Lakeland and Union City Fire Departments. Also assisting at the scene were Coldwater Police, Branch County Sheriffs Department, Michigan State Police, Lifecare Ambulance, Branch County Victims Services and Coldwater Board of Public Utilities.
