ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – A 50-year-old Angola man was arrested Tuesday on multiple counts of Level 4 felony child molestation. Police say Alejandro Hernandez, was arrested following a swift investigation prompted by a report from a 13-year-old girl, who disclosed to her mother that Hernandez had molested her at a residence in Angola between late Sunday, and early Monday.
According to court documents, the investigation began when the girl’s mother contacted police after her daughter reported the incident. The girl alleged that Hernandez, who also used the aliases Rogelio Gonzalez and Ricardo Garcias, offered her $20 for a massage, which she declined. Hernandez then allegedly touched the girl inappropriately for 10 minutes before leaving a $20 bill on her bed. The Angola Police Department initiated the investigation with assistance from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana Department of Child Services.
Hernandez attempted to evade police at his workplace, Miller Poultry in Orland, where he had clocked out and could not initially be located. He was later apprehended and interviewed at the Angola Police Department, where he denied the allegations.
Hernandez is currently being held at the Steuben County Jail on a $10,000 bail, with a no-contact order issued to protect the victim. If convicted on both counts, he faces up to 24 years in prison. The investigation remains ongoing.
