Dorothy E. Macomber, 92, of Tekonsha passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025 at The Oaks in Battle Creek.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Dorothy will take place at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Lighthouse of Tekonsha, 616 N. Main St., Tekonsha, MI with Pastor Brian Walker of Anchor Baptist Church in Homer officiating. Private interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha.
A gathering and family and friends will be held just prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m., also at Lighthouse of Tekonsha Thursday, May 29.
Dorothy was born September 25, 1932 to Walter and Mable (Riley) Nelson in Ypsilanti, North Dakota. She graduated from Tekonsha High School with the Class of 1950. On December 13, 1953 she married Duane L. Macomber. He preceded her in death on February 21, 2011.
Over the years, Dorothy worked as a babysitter and at the Douglas Corp. in Tekonsha for 32 years. She was also a part of the Red Hats Society for many years and was a Cub Scout leader.
In her free time, she enjoyed baking cookies, coffee cakes, and anything for her family and friends. She also loved playing bingo, crocheting, and watching The Price Is Right and soap operas.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Duane E. (Dorothy) Macomber of Tekonsha, Ronnie (Kathy) Macomber of Gresham, OR, Rodney “Munchkin” Macomber of Tekonsha, and Robin Macomber of Paw Paw; her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Duane, she was preceded in death by her parents; her three brothers; and her two sisters.
