LANSING, MI (WTVB) – A Michigan DNR officer from Branch County was one of four officers to be honored recently for their lifesaving efforts.
Conservation Officer Isaac Tyson was honored for his efforts in saving the life of a man last July. He was on a joint patrol with a Branch County marine deputy when they got a call about an unconscious man face down in the water.
By the time they arrived, the man was sitting upright in a boat and appeared to be fine. About an hour later there were screams from the same area as the man had fallen unconscious in the boat.
Tyson and bystanders got the man into the patrol boat. The victim stopped breathing as he was being transported. Tyson began CPR and when the man was lifted onto a dock, it was discovered the man had an obstructed airway. Once the airway was cleared, the man began breathing.
The four officers honored received Lifesaving Awards from the DNR’s Law Enforcement Division.
