COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater split a non-conference baseball doubleheader Tuesday at Lowe Field against Paw Paw. The Cardinals won the opener 4-3, while the Red Wolves took the nightcap 15-2 in five innings.
In the first game, Coldwater scored twice in the bottom of the seventh with no hits to pick up the victory, aided by three Paw Paw errors in the inning. The Cardinals had only three hits the entire game: a double from Royale Fleming, and singles from Dayton Ennis and Rylan Edwards. Ennis got the win in relief of starter Owen Tappenden.
The second game saw the Red Wolves score four runs in the third, four in the fourth, and six in the fifth while holding the Cardinals to three hits: singles from Fleming, Finn Hanson, and Liam Clark.
Coldwater fell to 9-19-on the season and will visit Union City Wednesday afternoon for one final tune-up before Saturday’s Division 2 District at Marshall.
PARMA, MI – Bronson dropped both halves of a twinbill at Parma Western, losing 12-2 in five innings and 7-2.
In the first game, the Panthers broke a scoreless tie with seven runs in the third inning. Owen Kimmons hit a two-run single in the fifth, while Warner Wotta had the other Viking hit.
Both Bronson runs in the second game were unearned. Wotta and Kam Brackett had the only Viking hits.
Bronson fell to 16-11-1 on the season and will face Centreville Saturday at 12 p.m. in the Semifinals of the Division 3 Union City District. The winner will take on either Union City or Quincy for the District title.
