BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – A 21 year old man is in the Steuben County Jail after leading deputies from Branch and Steuben counties on a chase on I-69 early Saturday morning.
Branch County deputies attempted to stop a motorcycle operated by Thomas Logan Baxla for traveling at 113 mph around 1:16 a.m. Saturday.
Baxla failed to stop and led Branch County deputies across the state line, where they were joined in the pursuit by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police.
Baxla exited I-69, disregarded a stop sign, and then re-entered the interstate continuing southbound. He proceeded to the next exit where he failed to negotiate a curve and drove into the grass and came to a stop. He was then quickly taken into custody while a female passenger was released from the scene.
Baxla is facing charges in both counties. He is currently being held in the Steuben County Jail on charges of Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle as well as an outstanding warrant. Charges are expected to be filed in Branch County,including Fleeing and Eluding 3rd degree.
Baxla is waiting extradition back to Branch County.
