COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A fast moving storm Monday afternoon and early evening brought heavy rain, strong winds, and even some hail to most of Branch County.
As of 9:00 p.m., Consumers Energy reported 18 customers without power in the county. Around 230 customers in the Colon area in St. Joseph County lost power also.
While a Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued shortly after 3:00 p.m, the first of two Severe Thunderstorm Warnings was issued at 5:35 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. for northwest Branch County, while second was issued for central Branch County at 5:55 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
The Severe Thunderstorm Watch was canceled at 6:43 p.m.
A 49 mile per hour wind gust was reported at the Branch Counth Memorial Airport at 6:15 p.m., while almost one half inch of rain was recorded in the 6:00 p.m. hour.
