COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s boys basketball team will play their first game of the season outside of Branch County tonight as they’ll be at Harper Creek in the nightcap of a girls/boys varsity basketball doubleheader. The Cardinals are 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the Interstate 8. Harper has lost four straight after winning their first three games of the season.
The Coldwater girls are 6-2 overall and 2-2 in the I-8 while Harper is 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

Nathan Karney led Quincy with 21 points while Elijah Harris led Union City with 12 points. Quincy is now 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the Big 8. Union City drops to 4-4 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

Connor Jenkins scored 27 points as Tekonsha dropped to 3-5.

The Coldwater Freshmen boys basketball lost a hard fought battle to a hot shooting Harper Creek team Thursday night 63-48. Leading the way for the Cardinals was Noah Waterbury with 18 points. Dennis Winger had 12 points. Coldwater’s record now moves to 3-4 on the season and will host Jackson Lumen Christi next Tuesday.

Bronson dropped their second straight game as they fell to 5-2 overall. Ashton Wronikowski and Kiera Lasky both scored 10 points for the Vikings.

In girls junior varsity basketball, after being up by five at halftime Coldwater lost a hard fought battle to Harper Creek 42-37. Kelsi Herlan led Coldwater with 16 points while Jayda Kelly had eight rebounds.

B.C. Central 107, Coldwater 77
The Coldwater Boys Swim and Dive team lost at Battle Creek Central 107-77. The relay team of Carter Moore, Tanner Bowers, Paul Bonham and Austin Butler finished first and broke the team record in the 400 Freestyle relay. Meanwhile, the relay team of Bonham, Josh Rowlson, Moore and Butler broke the team record in the 200 Medley relay with their second place finish.
Moore and Butler both won events for the Cardinals. Austin took first in the 50 Freestyle and Carter won the 100 Butterfly, both of which were team records. Austin also broke the 100 Freestyle team record. Ben Fagen and Dominic Kelly both had big time drops for the Cards. Ben dropped 18.06 seconds in the 200 Freestyle and Dominic dropped 4.46 seconds on the 100 Breaststroke. The Cardinals boys swim again January 14th at Loy Norrix at 10 a.m.
