COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – What can only be described as a potpourri of weather went through Branch County during a 24 hour period on Wednesday and Thursday.
It was springtime in January on Wednesday night as thunderstorms rumbled through the area and the temperature rose to 57 degrees at the Branch County Memorial Airport at 10:30 p.m.
Temperatures were still in the low 50s at midnight.
As the mercury dropped during the early morning hours of Thursday, more rain moved in.
It eventually got cold enough for National Weather Service forecasters to issue a Freezing Rain Advisory for Branch and surrounding counties until the early afternoon.
No big chill is on the horizon. Forecasters are calling for highs to get back into the 40s early next week.
