COLDWATER TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater firefighters had to rescue a man off of the thinning ice of Randall Lake on Wednesday afternoon.
Coldwater Fire Chief Rich Sherman says one of two men who were about 200 feet off shore near Narrows Road fell and injured his hip at about 1:15 p.m.
Sherman says the man could not move but he did not go into the water.
A rescue sled was used to get the man off the ice. He was taken by Life Care Ambulance to the Community Health Center of Branch County.
Sherman is reminding people to use extreme caution on the ice especially after the recent warm temperatures. Dog owners near lakes are also being told not to let their animals run at large in order to keep them off the ice.
