HAMILTON, IN (WTVB) – A UPS driver is recovering after he was attacked by three pit bulls while making a delivery at a home near the Steuben/DeKalb county line in Indiana.
The sheriff’s office says they responded to the call of a dog bite Monday along State Road 1 outside of Hamilton.
Deputies found the UPS driver suffering from bites to his arms, abdomen, and his head.
The unidentified driver told police he had been delivering a package to the home, when a woman opened the door to sign for the delivery and five pit bulls ran outside. As he tried to get away, one of the dogs reportedly bit him in the back of the leg, causing him to fall.
After that, he said three of the younger dogs started to bite him while the other two abstained. The woman then yelled at the dogs and ended the attack.
Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control euthanized the three dogs after being surrendered by the owner.
The incident is still under investigation, and a decision regarding potential criminal charges has not yet been made.
