COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man who was charged in connection with alleged incidents involving a relative in Bethel Township last July entered guilty pleas to two charges on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
33-year-old Jared David Manifold pled guilty to two counts of felonious assault. In exchange for his guilty plea, another count of felonious assault as well as charges of domestic violence and assault by strangulation would be dismissed by prosecutors.
All of the alleged crimes took place over a three day period.
Sentencing was scheduled for February 27, 2017.
Manifold was arrested after he allegedly pointed what turned out to be an empty gun at Michigan State Police troopers who had come to his home. Manifold also said in court on Monday that the weapon was inoperable.
He added he has several mental disorders and is bipolar.
Manifold was eventually talked into surrendering and no shots were fired during the standoff.
