COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater will be hosting Jackson Northwest in a Interstate 8 girls/boys varsity basketball doubleheader tonight at the Floyd Eby Gymnasium.
The 5-1 Coldwater girls will be playing their first game since December 20. The Coldwater boys are 4-1 after their victory over Branch County rival Quincy on Tuesday night. Both Coldwater squads are 1-1 in the Interstate 8.
Tonights doubleheader begins at 6:00 p.m. Coverage of both games on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB begins at 5:30 p.m.
The Coldwater JV boys notched their second victory of the season Thursday night defeating Jackson Northwest 38-35. Austin Santure led the Cardinals with 11 points and seven rebounds, Erik Corona and Bryce Lafferty both chipped in seven points.
The Coldwater boys freshmen basketball team came away with a intense 49-48 win at Jackson Northwest Thursday night. Noah Waterbury was leading scorer with 20 points. The Coldwater Freshmen are now 2-3.
Also in boys basketball tonight, Bronson plays their first game in 17 days as they’ll be at Mendon. The Vikings are 1-3 following their loss to Branch County rival Union City back on December 20th.

Quincy moved to 4-2 on the year and 2-0 in the Big 8. Nathan Karney led the Orioles with 13 points while William Dunn added nine points.
Concord 60, Union City 56
The Chargers drop to 3-3 overall and 0-2 in the Big 8. Union City outscored the Yellow Jackets 20-13 in the fourth quarter but their rally short. Concord has now won 17 straight Big 8 games.

In girls basketball tonight, the 1-4 Quincy Orioles will host Springport while the 2-6 Union City Chargers will play at Concord.
In girls basketball last night…
Due to a number of Mendon players being ill, the junior varsity and varsity games between Mendon and Bronson were postponed until January 16th. That means Bronson will have to play three games in four nights that week. They will host Quincy on Tuesday the 17th and play at Cassopolis on Thursday the 19th.

Coldwater’s JV girls basketball team defeated Jackson Northwest 52-35. Kelsi Herlan drained four from outside the arc finishing with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Bailey Burkhardt finished with 10 points while Jayda Kelly led the team in rebounds with 10.
The Coldwater freshman girls defeated Olivet 30-24. Taylor Wilber led Coldwater with 14 points and seven steals while McKenzy Cole grabbed seven rebounds.
