COLON, MI (WTVB) – The former superintendent of Bronson Community Schools is returning to the area, but with a different school district.
Colon Community Schools has begun contract negotiations to hire Rick Hilderley as their next superintendent.
Hilderley was a principal for Tecumseh Public Schools when he took the top job in Bronson. Two years later when the superintendent job in Tecumseh opened up, he returned to the district in that capacity. He retired from the Tecumseh job in June 2024.
In a new release Thursday, Colon officials said Hilderley emerged as a strong finalist after the interview process and meaningful engagement with staff, students, parents, and community members. He is scheduled to take over July 7.
Hilderley replaces Rachel Kowalski, who resigned to become the superintendent of Saline Area Schools.
