COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – If you are one of the nearly 2.6 million Michiganders planning a trip over the long holiday weekend you may want to hold off as long as you can to fill up your tank. That’s the advice one gas expert is giving, as many get ready to head out for the Fourth of July4th holiday.
In Branch County, the average price for a gallon of regular gas sits at $3.21 a gallon which is right in line with the state average that stands at $3.20 per gallon.
We could see those numbers continue to fall. One of the big reasons experts say we could see a sudden sharp decline is because of the ceasefire in the Middle East. The attacks in Israel and Iran caused those prices to jump, but once a ceasefire was announced, it sent oil prices plummeting. That eventually leads to lower gas prices.
Patrick De Hann with GasBuddy says we should see the prices continue to go down into Sunday and on into next week.
De Haan says he expects to see prices drop by as much as 10 to 20 cents per gallon over the next few days.
