COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Multiple Branch County law enforcement agencies will be conducting training exercises next week to prepare for the call they hope they never have to take, that of an active school shooter.
Coldwater Public Safety Director Joe Shied says the FBI will be assisting in the training.
Shied says how police officers respond to a school shooter has evolved overtime since the Columbine incident in 1999, and lessons learned from previous shootings such as Parkland in Florida and Uvalde in Texas.
The training sessions at the high school are scheduled Monday through Thursday next week.
