Joan was born October 27, 1940 to Paul and Arlene (Bahner) Rothermel, in Herndon, PA. She later met and married her high school sweetheart, James H. Snyder on June 21, 1958.
Joan graduated from Argubright Business College and held several clerical jobs during her lifetime. She was most honored to be the Quincy Township Clerk for many years before retiring.
Joan was a member of Lockwood Community Church and especially enjoyed sending cards to other members who needed encouragement. She was patriotic in every sense of the word and followed political and news events throughout her lifetime.
Traveling was also a passion and together, Jim and Joan went to many beautiful places in the United States and abroad including Spain, Israel and Canada. Among some of Joan’s other interests were clowns and she and her youngest son Andy took a class together and went to birthday parties to entertain others.
She loved playing cards and was always a tough competitor. She also enjoyed reading and watching the wildlife in their huge backyard, especially the deer and birds. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her sons; Glenn (Julie) Snyder and Andrew (Angela) Snyder, her brother; Steve (Janet) Rothermel, her sister-in-law Linda Rothermel, her grandchildren; Phillip (Mary) Snyder, Sarah (Eric) Roth, Kyle (Brianna) Snyder, her great-grandchildren; Maxwell and Paige Snyder, Julianna, Alexia and Emalyn Roth, Tanner and Asher Snyder as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would also like to mention her good friend Rosie Rial, who graciously helped Joan with anything she needed. Together, they were quite the team.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; James (Jim) Snyder and her brothers; Carl, Bryant and Larry Rothermel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Gideon Bible Society.
