WASHINGTON D.C. (WTVB)- He had hoped to be home for Christmas by now, but Michigan’s 7th District Republican Congressman Tim Walberg is stuck in Washington as the drama continues on the possibility of a partial government shutdown.
President Trump has threatened to shut down the government unless he gets $5 billion in the budget to build a wall along the Mexican border.
Walberg says Democrats in Washington were stonewalling. He pointed to polling, which according to Walberg, showed that over 80 percent of respondents wanted border security dealt with.
He said Friday morning that Congressional Republicans are willing to compromise but conservatives still want the wall.
