JACKSON, MI (WTVB) Consumers Energy electric and natural gas customers who qualify for State Emergency Relief (SER) funds and have not yet received the full $500 annual benefit may now be eligible for additional support.
New applicants who have not received SER assistance in Fiscal Year 2025 can receive up to the $500 cap per commodity (electric and natural gas), regardless of the amount they owe.
Customers who have already received SER funding since October 1, 2024, but have not yet reached the $500 cap per commodity, may apply for the remaining balance through September 30.
In the previous year, 540,000 customers received a total of $38.4 million in SER funding.
Additionally, 137,000 families across 330 Michigan counties received some form of energy assistance.
