COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – With two members absent for Tuesday’s final meeting of 2018, the three Branch County Commissioners who were present decided to table a pay grade request from Juvenile Court Administrator Zack Rusk in the hiring of a Juvenile Case Worker.
Rusk said during last week’s work session he wants to hire an individual who has a bachelor’s degree at a five year union rate of $18.83 per hour, which is well above the new hire Tier Two hourly rate of $15.08.
Rusk said the person he had in mind was making over $22 an hour working in Hillsdale County.
Commissioner Leonard Kolcz is still recovering from a recent stroke while Commission Chair Ted Gordon was away on vacation for Tuesday’s meeting.
Commissioner Don Vrablic motioned for the request to be tabled because he felt a full board of Commissioners needs to discuss the request.
In other business on Tuesday, the Commissioners approved having Interim Equalization Director Jody Connell move into the Director’s position.
The Equalization Department is responsible for determining true cash values of property every year. The values are determined by conducting sales or appraisal studies.
