COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man has been sentenced to 2-10 years with the Michigan Department of Corrections after entering into a plea deal in Branch County Circuit Court.
Christopher Howell was charged with multiple counts of possession of child sexually abusive material, stemming from an investigation into alleged child pornography.
Howell was also ordered to register as a sex offender as a result of his plea to the most serious charge he was charged with, Aggravated Possession of Child Sexually Abusive Material.
According to Branch County Prosecutor Zach Stempien, the charges in this case arose out of an investigation that began in April 2024 after a flash drive containing suspected child pornography was located inside Howell’s home. As a result, police seized and analyzed multiple electronic and computer devices in the possession of the Defendant.
Ultimately, police found over 400 files of suspected child pornography on a flash drive, which included files containing images of prepubescent children.
