COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – ADAPT, Inc., will celebrate 50 years of service with a public Open House on Saturday, August 2, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the organization’s main building, located at 202 Morse St. in Coldwater.
The event is free and open to the community. It will include food, music and games, and will welcome individuals served by ADAPT, their families and guardians, employees, board members, partner agencies and local residents.
Founded in 1975, ADAPT began by serving 14 individuals at a single location in Coldwater. Today, it serves approximately 250 individuals daily across Branch and St. Joseph counties. The organization provides a variety of services, including residential programs, employment assistance, day programs, respite care, subsidized housing and more, all designed to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living as independently as possible.
ADAPT operates 14 residential homes and 22 independent living units. The organization’s programs are primarily funded by community mental health agencies, including Pines Behavioral Health in Branch County and Pivotal in St. Joseph County.
The mission at ADAPT is to promote community participation and the highest level of independence unique to each individual served. The organization emphasizes community involvement through outings and events.
