COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – For the second straight quarter, LifeCare Ambulance was not in compliance in response times for potentially life-threatening emergency calls under a contract they entered into with Branch County earlier this year.
According to a report given to Branch County Commissioners on Thursday by LifeCare Vice President of Operations Brian Walls, their response time for priority one calls during April, May and June in Branch County was 76-point-18 percent.
The contract calls for response times of 15 minutes or less on 80 percent of priority one calls. The same percentage applies to priority three calls.
LifeCare faces a five percent reduction in quarterly subsidy payments if response time goals are not met. The agreement with the county waives the penalty in cases like extreme weather and system overloads.
LifeCare’s average response time on priority one calls during the second quarter of the year was 10 minutes and five seconds but of the 634 calls, 151 were late. The priority three response time was 14 minutes and 17 seconds on average. Of the 475 calls, only 36 were late.
Walls reported that customer satisfaction between April and June was as high as 94 percent.
