STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – Alertness from a Michigan State Trooper led to the arrest of a Constantine man, after he allegedly damaged a Michigan State Police cruiser, and threw a grill to break a window at a Sturgis car dealership.
A trooper from Marshall Post was patrolling near the Jim Stykeman Chevrolet dealership when he noticed “suspicious activity” around 6:40 p.m Wednesday.
The trooper found an MSP cruiser, which was at the dealership for maintenance, with a smashed windshield, side mirror and rear license plate.

While checking on the cruiser, the trooper then observed what he believed to be an “intoxicated” man, breaking the dealership’s window and throwing a grill.
Officers with the Sturgis Police Department ultimately arrested the 54 year old man on multiple charges, including malicious destruction of police property.
The unidentified man remains in the St Joseph County jail.
