COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police are investigating a three vehicle crash in Ovid Township which sent a 43-year-old Hillsdale woman to a Fort Wayne hospital late Thursday afternoon.
The collision took place just after 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of Central Road and South Angola Road which is also known as Old U.S. 27.
Investigators say the injured woman was heading east on Central Road when she allegedly disregarded a stop sign and crashed into the passenger side of a south bound vehicle on South Angola Road which was being driven by a 43-year-old man from Camden.
The impact caused the Camden man’s vehicle to go off the road and hit some trees.
The vehicle that allegedly went through the stop sign then collided with a northbound vehicle which was driven by a 24-year-old woman from Bronson.
The Camden man and the Bronson woman both refused medical treatment at the scene.
Meanwhile, the Hillsdale woman was found to be unconscious when Troopers arrived. She was flown from the scene to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. The accident forced a portion of Angola Road/Old U.S.27 to be shut down while the Lakeland Fire Department was at the crash site for more than 2 hours.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be factors.
The names of the persons involved have not been released as the accident remains under investigation.
