COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – If you see a large amount of emergency vehicles with their flashing lights on at the Coldwater Walmart Thursday evening, don’t panic.
Numerous police, fire and emergency personnel will be taking part in Branch County’s version Shop With A Cop.
The sixth annual event is being sponsored once again by the Branch County Sheriff’s Department.
Children selected by the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic Violence will have dinner at 5:00 p.m. with police and firefighters, then shop for their parents, siblings, Toys for Tots and themselves, with the caravan of emergency vehicles going through town at 6:00 p.m.
The Shop with a Cop program is made possible with private donations and a golf outing put on by the Lakeland Correctional Facility employees this past summer.
In addition, City of Coldwater Police officers raised over $600 last month by taking part in a “No Shave November.”
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police Troopers, Coldwater firefighters, local officers and officers from the Michigan Department of Corrections have taken part in recent years.
