COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In boys high school basketball, Dylan Targgart and Gage McGuire both had double-doubles as the Coldwater Cardinals defeated the Battle Creek Lakeview Spartans 67-56 in the Cardinals home opener at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium.
Targgart finished with a game-high 24 points and 13 rebounds while McGuire had 20 points and 10 rebounds.
McDonald’s Player of the Game Spencer Rodesiler added 12 points while Damon Beckhusen had eight assists as the Cardinals improved to 2-0.
In the junior varsity action, Coldwater rolled past Lakeview 61-42. Lu LeBron led the Cardinals with 14 points, while Aaron May scored 13 points. The JV team is now 1-1.
The Coldwater freshman boys picked up their first win of the season last night, beating Lakeview 43-35. Logan Farmer had 13 points, while Nate Tappenden scored 11 points.
Also Tuesday, Bronson dropped to 0-3 with a 62-46 loss at Athens. Brett Sikorski led the Vikings with 15 points.
Quincy improved to 2-0 with a 63-49 home court victory over Napoleon. Will Dunn had huge game for the Orioles as he poured in 37 points, grabbed 19 rebounds and blocked four shots. Jordan Nelson had nine points and seven rebounds.
