COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A suspect was booked at the Branch County Jail last Thursday following an violent incident with a woman last Tuesday at an apartment in the 500 block of Morse Street.
49-year-old Daniel Torres was booked for felonious assault. It is not known when he will appear for an arraignment to be formally charged in Branch County District Court. At last report he was in the psychiatric unit at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
Torres is also a registered sex offender with the State of Michigan.
Michigan State Police online records show he was convicted of first degree criminal sexual conduct in Pontiac back in 1993.
Coldwater Police said the alleged 53-year-old victim and the suspect both needed hospital treatment. The woman suffered facial bruising and lacerations in the incident.
According to police, both subjects had blood showing when officers arrived, and they discovered that the suspect had allegedly attacked the female friend.
