The Pigskin Prophet went 3-1 on his high school picks in Week One, missing only on the Union City Chargers win against Parchment.
It was a great start to the Branch County high school football season as all four teams won their opening night games.
All of the teams are on the road for Week Two.
Coldwater travels to Gull Lake for a battle with the Blue Devils.
The Cardinals kept the Silver Football for another year with a 44-6 home triumph over Sturgis while the Blue Devils lost to Marshall 42-14.
This is the first road game for the Cardinals but I don’t think the long bus trip will affect them. If they can avoid mental mistakes and a let down from their big win over Sturgis, the Cardinals should go to 2-0.
The PP says Coldwater 34, Gull Lake 14
The Quincy Orioles play at Sand Creek Friday night. The Orioles defeated an undermanned East Jackson team last week 64-6 but it was an impressive showing for the Orioles in all facets of the game. In addition, the Orioles did not commit any penalties.
Sand Creek lost a tough 21-14 game at Vandercook Lake and it’s Aggies home opener. Sand Creek won at Quincy last year 42-14 during their 4-6 campaign but it’s a different season.
The PP says Quincy 21, Sand Creek 20
The Bronson Vikings will be at Decatur. The Vikings overcame a slow start in their 31-16 home win over Prairie Heights last Friday night while the Raiders lost at Lawton 24-6.
Decatur is coming off an 11-2 campaign which saw them get all the way to the Division 8 semifinals. They are going to be smarting after losing to Lawton for a fifth straight time.
The PP says Decatur 41, Bronson 28
The Union City Chargers travel to Vermontville Maple Valley after their thrilling 16-14 opening night win at Parchment. The Chargers defeated the Lions last year 48-0 at Alumni Field. Maple Valley went 2-7 last year and dropped their opening game last week to Saranac 34-6.
The Chargers should go to 2-0.
