COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In middle school basketball, the Coldwater Legg Middle School eighth grade team won their first game of the season Thursday night as they defeated Pennfield 50-34.
Both of the Legg seventh grade teams defeated Pennfield. The A team won 45-15 as Evan Porter had 15 points, Zach Coffing had seven points and five steals while Eddie Pool had six points, four assists and 10 rebounds. Tyson Roby also had four assists.
The B team won 32-20 as Hugo Mojica had 18 points, 11 rebounds and six steals. Nabil Saeed had seven rebounds and three steals.
Bronson swept Quincy by scores of 34-26 in the eighth grade game and 30-15 in the seventh grade contest. Leading scorers for Bronson were Aden Hathaway in the eighth grade game with 13 points and Christian Wilson in the seventh grade game with nine points.
In games that were played Wednesday night, the Bronson eighth graders defeated Reading 42-41 in overtime as Hathaway had 21 points while the seventh graders lost to Reading 34-29. Landon Hyska had 13 points to lead the Vikings.
Quincy’s eighth graders defeated Concord 45-18 as Gavin Hagerman led the Orioles with 18 points.
