BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Battle Creek police say a call of a suspicious incident at the Willard Library on Wednesday led to the arrest of a 67-year-old Otsego man.
Wednesday afternoon police were dispatched to The Willard Library, on Van Buren Street, following a report of a suspicious adult male attempting to lure minor children into a vehicle.
Library staff placed the call after the children ran inside, alarmed by the situation. Officers quickly responded and located the suspect nearby. After further investigation, a 67-year-old male subject from the Otsego area was taken into custody and lodged at the Calhoun County Jail and is currently being held on charges of child enticement and attempted unlawful imprisonment. Additional charges may be considered as the investigation continues.
Battle Creek Police commended the children for recognizing the danger and seeking help, and the library staff for their swift action in contacting authorities.
