COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater will soon be back in the business of planning downtown festivals and related events.
It was announced by Coldwater Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Cayden Sparks during Wednesday’s Coldwater Downtown Development Authority board meeting that the Chamber will be getting out of planning and putting on events starting in 2019 and that those events will be handled for the time being by City of Coldwater staff.
Sparks said the Chamber will still put on Ice Fest in January 2019. After that, the city will put on StrawberryFest, Entertainment under the Stars, and AppleFest, as well as IceFest starting in January of 2020.
He said the change is being made so the Chamber can start focusing more on economic empowerment for its members by offering more trainings, workshops, and other member benefits. Before the chamber took them on, the events were previously coordinated by the former Coldwater Downtown Business Association.
Current plans call for Community Enrichment Director Julie Santure to be the lead administrator for the various events.
