BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Pigskin Prophet is on fire. He went 4-0 last week on the Branch County high school football picks and 6-1 overall for the week.
For the season, the PP is 10-4 overall which includes a 7-1 mark in the high school games.
Remember, the PP predicts with his head, not with his heart even if it means picking against a local team.
If the first two weeks are any indication, this maybe one of the most exciting high school football seasons ever in Branch County.
Coldwater, Quincy and Union City are all 2-0. Bronson is 1-1 and came within a whisker of being 2-0 after losing a tough double overtime game at Decatur last Friday.
Here are the week #3 predictions for Branch County high school football….
HARPER CREEK AT COLDWATER
The Cardinals have outscored their opponents 82-14 in winning their first two games. But Harper Creek will provide a much stiffer challenge Friday night.
The 1-1 Beavers will come into Coldwater with red in their eyes after losing last week to a very tough Cedar Springs team 30-20.
Harper Creek defeated Coldwater last year 35-14 and have won five straight against the Cardinals. It will be six in a row after Friday night’s game.
Harper has enough talent back from last year’s Interstate 8 championship team to get the job done at Cardinal Field.
The PP says Harper Creek 28, Coldwater 21
QUINCY AT STOCKBRIDGE
Another road trip for the 2-0 Quincy Orioles as they’ll face the 0-2 Stockbridge Panthers in a Big 8 Conference battle.
The Orioles may score 100 points Friday night. They have put 120 points on the board in their first two games while Stockbridge has surrendered 83 points so far this season.
The Orioles will keep rolling and move to 3-0.
The PP says Quincy 49, Stockbridge 24
SAND CREEK AT UNION CITY
The Union City Chargers host the Sand Creek Aggies in the first home game of the season for the Chargers. We’ll have update reports during our coverage of the Coldwater game against Harper Creek.
It’s also Team Hall of Fame Night. Honored will be the 1993 Charger baseball team as well as the 1995-1996 Union City girls volleyball team. Both teams were coached by Mike Leson.
Union City is looking to go to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the Big 8 against a Sand Creek squad that got manhandled by Quincy 56-28 last week.
If the Chargers can move the ball on the ground like they did last week, they should be able to grind out another win.
The PP says Union City 31, Sand Creek 14
HARTFORD AT BRONSON
The Bronson Vikings look to bounce back after last weeks tough loss as they’ll host the Hartford Huskies.
Both teams are 1-1. The Huskies got smoked last week by White Pigeon 42-0. Hartford is in the second year of trying to rebuild its varsity football program. They did not have varsity football in 2022 and 2023.
Bronson should be focused after last Friday’s gut punch and they to much talent for the Huskies to handle.
The PP says Bronson 34, Hartford 16
