COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Hazardous waste collection remains very popular in the City of Coldwater.
The final numbers for the September 29 Coldwater Board of Public Utilities Household Hazardous Waste collection at the Branch County Fairgrounds were presented to the CBPU Board of Directors Tuesday night.
Energy Optimization Manager Bob Granger said they had a record turnout of 312 vehicles which included 159 from the City of Coldwater.
There were 274 vehicles counted during the 2017 collection.
Granger pointed out Branch County is one of the few counties in the state that does not run a county wide program.
The total cost for putting on the program was over $16,000 which covered such items as marketing and staffing the event.
It was free for those who lived in Coldwater, Bronson and Quincy as well as residents in Coldwater Township, Algansee Township, and Ovid Township.
Granger indicated there could be additional townships for next year’s collection.
The collection of materials has been going on for almost two decades.
