Boston Celtics star forward Jayson Tatum will spend the next 10 to 14 days in quarantine as part of the NBA’s COVID-19 protocol, according to The Athletic.
It was not clear whether Tatum had tested positive or had been deemed a close contact.
Tatum scored 32 points in a 116-107 win over the Washington Wizards on Friday night.
Meanwhile Wizards star Bradley Beal was held out of Saturday night’s game against the Miami Heat due to health and safety protocols.
The Athletic reported that Beal and Tatum were “speaking in close proximity on the court postgame” on Friday night.
The Celtics’ updated injury report for Sunday’s game against the visiting Heat listed Tatum as doubtful due to health and safety protocols. Jaylen Brown, Javonte Green and Semi Ojeleye are listed as questionable. Tristan Thompson, Grant Williams and Robert Williams missed the game against Washington due to being in the COVID-19 protocol and are all still out.
Tatum, 22, is averaging a team-leading 26.9 points and 7.1 rebounds through 10 games this season for the Celtics (7-3).
Beal, 27, scored 41 points in the loss at Boston and is averaging a league-leading 35.0 points per game through nine games this season. Earlier this week, he scored a career-high 60 points in a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.
