BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – As we hit the halfway mark of the high school football regular season in Michigan this week, the Pigskin Prophet continues to shine in his Branch County prognostications.
After going 3-1 last Friday, the PP is now 14-2 for the season. The only miss came on Union City’s upset loss at Stockbridge on a truly bizarre night as the game did not start until 9:30 p.m. due to the lack of officials.
But the PP did not fare as well in his college and pro picks only going 4-4. That brings the overall record for the season to 26-10.
Here’s the week #5 Branch County high school football slate…
COLDWATER AT PARMA WESTERN
The Panthers have had their way with the Cardinals in recent years. Parma has won four straight including last year when they romped to a 49-7 victory in Coldwater. But they are 1-3 this year and have lost three straight games. After blowout losses to Traverse City Central and Marshall, the Panthers gave Hastings a battle before they lost to the Saxons 22-14.
The last time Coldwater beat Parma Western was in 2019 when the Cardinals won a 14-13 nailbiter.
Coldwater is 3-1 after their 45-20 Homecoming win over Jackson Northwest. The PP thinks the Cards will get the job done Friday night.
The PP says Coldwater 28, Parma Western 20
CENTREVILLE AT BRONSON
The only thing that stopped the Vikings offense last Friday night at Cassopolis was the scoreboard clock running out. They may need a new scoreboard at Cassopolis after the Vikings romped to a 69-28 victory.
To the best of our knowledge, it was the most points ever scored by a Bronson football team in one game. The Vikings scored 65 points against Comstock in 2015 and 67 against Lawrence in 2011.
The 3-1 Vikings have scored 167 points in four games so far in 2025.
They will be facing a 2-2 Centreville team that is smarting after they got gashed by state-ranked White Pigeon 46-0.
The PP thinks the Vikings will keep the train moving.
The PP says Bronson 54, Centreville 31
UNION CITY AT QUINCY
It doesn’t get any better than this. Branch County rivals Union City and Quincy will face each other Friday night in an important Big 8 Conference game. It’s also Homecoming for Quincy.
The 3-1 Chargers will be in a foul mood after their crazy 25-18 loss at Stockbridge late last Friday night. The PP has been around a long time but he doesn’t recall a game starting 2 1/2 hours late because of an officiating issue.
Quincy is 4-0 as their turnaround season continues following their 28-16 comeback win last Friday at Comstock.
The PP likes both teams and this is such a tough call, he will let our chihuahua puppy Barbie make the pick.

Barbie ate the Quincy morsel first, so she is going with the Orioles.
The PP says Quincy 21, Union City 20
