FREMONT, IN (WTVB) – Drivers on the Indiana Toll Road in Steuben County had to take a detour Wednesday just west of Fremont while crews cleaned up the aftermath of a semitrailer crash from early this morning.
Around 2:00 a.m., Indiana State Police responded to reports of a semi that ran off the road in a construction zone on I-80 near mile-marker 143.6 between SR 327 and I-69.
Police determined the semi veered into a closed lane and crashed. Indiana State Police say the driver of the truck escaped without injury.
Eastbound traffic was diverted off the road at Exit 121 for Howe/LaGrange starting around 10:00 a.m. The detour, was is expected to last several hours, takes SR 9 southbound to east SR 120 and north on I-69 back to eastbound Indiana Toll Road.
Crews are working to remove the semi and repair the barrier wall in the construction zone.
