COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boys varsity soccer team wrapped up their first outright Interstate 8 Conference title since 2016 Thursday with a 7-0 home win over Hastings.
With the victory the Cardinals finish the league portion of their season with a 5-0-1 record. Coldwater shared the league title in 2021 and 2023.
Coldwater took a 3-0 lead into halftime on a pair of goals from Abdulhamid Munnasar, with another from Abdullah Ahmed.
Munnasar got another goal seven minutes into the second half, followed by goals from Nasser Abdullah, Riath Shaamala, and Ahmed Norman.
Nasser Abdullah had two assists, with one each from Austin Accardi, Abdullah Ahmed, Ahmed Norman, Sebastian Ocampo, and Mason Sabaitis.
Franky Ramos made five saves in goal for the Cardinals’ fourth shutout of the season. Coldwater outshot Hastings 27-6.
Coldwater is now 11-5-1 on the season and will travel to Richland Gull Lake Saturday for non-conference action.
Bronson lost to Hillsdale 5-2 as Alex Quiroz scored twice in the losing effort. Willie Ariza assisted on Quiroz’s first goal.
