COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A 90-year-old Quincy man is facing multiple felony charges for possessing child pornography.
Detectives from CCU received a tip from Apple regarding a private email account wherein photographs containing apparent child sexually abusive material was emailed.
The email account and apple ID was registered to a Gary Joe Rostetter.
According to court filings, Rostetter emailed the images to himself to preserve them. The emails contained approximately 36 uploaded files. The files contained images of pre–pubescent engaging in sexual activity.
Search warrants were served Rostetter’s residence and he admitted that he “cruises” the internet for porn to viewing Child Sexually Abusing Material because he was curious about it.
Rostetter ultimately admitted to having Child Sexually Abusing Material on his devices. He also told investigators he wondered if there might be nude pictures of his wife’s sister on his computer that he had taken when she was “underage.”
Several devices were forensically analyzed and contained multiple items of Child Sexually Abusing Material . On the cell phone seized from Rostetter there were approximately 59 images of Child Sexually Abusing Material, on his Mac computer, there was over 150 additional images.
Rostetter is charged with multiple felonies, including 1 count of child sexually abuse activity aggravated , 1 count of using computers to commit crime, and 3 counts child sexually abusive material aggravated possession.
Rostetter had his bond set at $25,000 and ordered not to use a computer or cell phone that is connected to the internet, and have no contact with a minor child under 18 years of age.
He will be back in court on October 9th for a preliminary exam.
