COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Tibbits Opera House will once again welcome fans of ghouls, ghosts and things that go bump in the night for its annual Monster Fest, on Saturday night, October 11.
Monster Fest has been a Halloween tradition at Tibbits, with live music kicking off the evening, followed by a film screening that’s sometimes fun, sometimes scary, and sometimes a little bit of both!
This year, Tibbits will kick things off at 8:30pm with Coldwater-based punk band 5 Good Reasons. A no-nonsense all-female punk rock trio, 5 Good Reasons describe themselves as “three loud moms, writing original music and trying to have a good time.” The band consists of Morgan Thomas on guitar and vocals, Joline Stoneberg on bass and vocals, and Pansy Goheen on drums.
Following 5 Good Reasons at 9:00pm, Tibbits will be screening the 1987 cult classic “The Monster Squad.” In this film, a group of pre-teens in a non-descript town idolize the classic Universal monster movies, and more specifically, their inhuman stars. But they are thrown into a situation they might not be ready for when Count Dracula himself, along with several of his monstrous counterparts gets his once in a century opportunity to return, looking for an amulet that would let them take over the world! “The Monster Squad” is rated PG-13 for some foul language, scary scenes, and gore.
Doors will open for this double-feature event at 7:30pm, with seating beginning at 8:00pm. Tickets are $10, including fees. Concessions, including alcoholic beverages, will be available for purchase. No outside food or drink is allowed inside the theatre. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit Tibbits.org, call 517-278-6029, or stop by the Tibbits office at 93 W. Chicago St., Coldwater, MI 49036 during business hours.
