COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – An annual effort to help out needy families in Branch County will take place Saturday.
Over 1,200 families received boxes filled with food for the holiday season last year thanks to the annual Feeding Branch County effort.
Renate Brenneke with the Branch Area Food Pantry is expecting about the same number of families on Saturday.
In addition to the food pantry, local churches, schools, businesses and other groups collected the food and donated money to purchase turkeys for the giveaway.
About 120 volunteers will be helping out Saturday.
With traffic control provided by the City of Coldwater police and fire departments, volunteers will pack and pass out boxes of food at the food pantry.
Up until last year when it was combined into one event, there were food distributions for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.
